Family Culture and Unity: Building a Coat of Arms or Family Crest

Culture can be defined as “The attitudes, values and behaviors that are characteristic of a particular social group or organization.” This meaning can apply to our general values, expectations, lifestyles and beliefs. How we design, interpret and display our reaction to this information becomes our cultural identity. The smallest group component of our personal culture is our family and household, where we have originated and where we currently belong. This article will explore the relationship between family culture and family unity and point out the importance of defining values and goals. The application of the results of this exploration could lead to an iconic picture of your family: a Family Crest or Coat of Arms. This 'picture' of the family can create an identifiable picture of the cultural and emotional unity of your family that you can proudly rally to.
