This FamilyIQ course called "Healthy Expectations I" is especially pertinent for parents who are considering or have already placed their child in a therapeutic program.
In what must be one of the more stressful periods of your life, you are considering placing or have already placed your child in a therapeutic program. You are probably going through the whole gamut of emotions: anxiety, fear, guilt, anger, trepidation, and yes, even relief. You are not alone. Every parent in similar situations feels as you do and goes through a similar process. What are your own expectations of a placement program and of a child who is in placement? What can you expect from treatment and from your child? And what is expected of you? This course will cover forming expectations, facing facts, and will reassure you with hope. Once you understand what your realistic expectations are, this course will help you adjust those expectations. Finally, it will help you to communicate, openly and with flexibility, your realistic expectations to your child, yourself, and to your therapist team and/or program.
